CONDITIONS OF SALE. 
 
 1. The highest Bidder to be the Buyer, and if any dispute 
 arise between two or more Bidders, the Lot so in dispute 
 shall be immediately put up again and re-sold. 
 
 2. The Purchasers to give their names and addresses, and 
 to pay down a cash deposit, or the whole of the Purchase- 
 money, if required, in default of which the Lot or Lots so 
 purchased to be immediately put up again and re-sold. 
 
 3. The Lots to be taken away at the Buyer’s Expense and 
 Risk upon the conclusion of the Sale, and the remainder of 
 the Purchase-money to be absolutely paid, or otherwise set- 
 tled for to the satisfaction of the Auctioneer, on or before 
 delivery; in default of which the undersigned will not hold 
 themselves responsible if the Lots be lost, stolen, damaged 
 or destroyed, but they will be left at the sole risk of the 
 Purchaser. 
 
 4, The sale of any article is not to be set aside on account 
 of any error in the description. All articles are exposed for 
 Public Exhibition one or more days, and are sold just as they 
 are, without recourse. 
 
 5. To prevent inaccuracy in delivery and inconvenience 
 in the settlement of the Purchases, no Lot can, on any 
 account, be removed during the sale. 
 
 6. If, for any cause, an article purchased cannot be de- 
 livered in as good condition as the same may have been at 
 the time of its sale, or should any article purchased there- 
 after be stolen, misdelivered, or lost, the undersigned are 
 not to be held liable in any greater amount than the price 
 bid by the purchaser. 
 
 7. Upon failure to comply with the above conditions, the 
 money deposited in part payment shall be forfeited ; all Lots 
 uncleared within the time aforesaid shall be re-sold by public 
 or private Sale, without further notice, and the deficiency (if 
 any) attending such re-sale, shall be made good by the de- 
 faulter at this Sale, together with all charges attending the 
 same. This Condition is without prejudice to the right of 
 the Auctioneer to enforce the Contract made at this Sale, 
 without such re-sale, if he thinks fit.

 Date, 1780. This guard is made of iron, and 
 represents five roosters, which are made of solid 
 gold and silver, and each feather shows dis- 
 tinctly. The fence of the yard is made of 
 shakudo, and branches of the tree are made of 
 solid silver into the exact shape of maple leaves. 
 There is also a distant scene of a mountain, show- 
 ing snow on the top. 
 
 » \218 One Sword Guard, made by Artist Mitsuhiro. Date, 
 
 1800. This sword guard is made of a fine quality 
 of bronze, carved into the view of a mountain 
 where ‘‘ Toshitoku”’ (the god of life) lives, who is

 a god to prolong the lives of people who are benev- 
 olent. The Toshitoku, made of shakudo, and 
 stalk made of silver and gold, cast work of pine 
 leaves, is skillfully finished. The boy standing 
 by the stream is a messenger, and is made of 
 shakudo and silver. 
 
 PORCELAINS. 
 
 , 214 Fine Ravens-wing Coupe, with handles, on teakwood 
 stand. 
 
 215 One egg-shell Cup and Cover, with exquisite lace-work 
 design under the glaze. Very rare. 
 
 216 One unique Bowl, decorated inside with a medallion 
 in four colors. The outer surface is embellished 
 with seven paintings of sacred figures, animals and 
 emblems. The outside rim and base have encir- 
 cling bands of symbols and signs denoting good 
 will, happiness, long life, etc. The shell, bell, 
 kora and the two fishes are conspicuous in each 
 border-drawing. The piece was made for some 
 royal personage. The seal at the base is unrecog- 
 nized, but the bowl may be safely assigned to the 
 era of ‘‘Kien-Lung,”’ 1736-1795. Height and 
 diameter, 2 by 42 inches.

 bears six marks of Kien-lung on base. A rare, 
 flawless specimen. Diameter, 6 in. 
 
 , 222 One Bowl, coral red, with bamboo decorations in white. 
 A rare specimen. 
 
 , 223 One very fine Bowl, ‘‘ Kien-lung’’ period, with high- 
 quality rouge, coral glaze, and bamboo branches 
 in white reserve. Exceedingly fine and rare speci- 
 men. 
 
 ,224 One coral and white Saucer. The interior bears the 
 ‘*Show’’ mark, denoting longevity, painted in 
 dark red. The outside coral surface is decorated 
 with flying cats of white, and the base bears the 
 mark of ‘‘ Yung-ching,’’ 1723-1736. The com- 
 bined decoration is very rare, and the texture of 
 the porcelain is uncommonly fine. Height and 
 diameter, 14 by 6 in.
