JL HIS capital Collection had its Origin in the refined Taste, and was the favorite Study of the late judicious owner for a series of Years, whose principal object was to correct and improve his knowledge of the Fine Arts, and, regardless of expence, to select Pictures of the first order; in which, aided by faithful correspondents abroad, and dili- gent pursuits at home, he was eminently successful. The whole of this Cabinet will be exhibited to the Public in the precise state in which they were at the decease of the Proprietor. It is unnecessary to assert, that every article in this Sale was absolutely the property, and in the possession, of Mr. Purling ; but it is proper to assure the Nobility, Gentry, and Public, that not a Picture has been resented out of this Collection , and that it is the unalterable determination of the Executors, that the Lots shall be sold to the highest bidder at the Auction, without any kind of reserve, pursuant to the directions of the Will. N. B. Subjoined is an Appendix, describing the extreme sizes of the frames, and the materials on which the Pictures are painted, carefully taken ; but should there be any inaccuracy, the Lots must be cleared by the Purchaser without allowance on that account.
