THE accompanying engraving shows the ali- mentary and intestinal canal and locates the most important places or points. 1. Esophagus. 2. Cardiac Orifice. 3. Stom- ach. 4. Pylorus. 5. Gall Bladder. 6, 6, 6. Small Intestines. 7. Lower and enlarged pouch of Co- lon. 8. Appendix. This singular organ seems to have no useful or necessary office in our ana- tomical structure, but on the contrary is often the cause of death, due to inflammation caused by hardened fseces, or by hard bodies, such as cher- ry stones, grapeseed, peanuts or other hard sub- stances which may become wedged in it. It is one of the great- est mysteries of the human anatomy, and when inflamed it re- ceives the name of ap-pen-di-ci'tis. The symptoms of this ter- rible affection are en- largement and pain^ just where the dark spot 8 is located in Fig. 1 on page 9 for inflammation of the caecum. The exter- nal treatment for ap- pendicitis is No. 298, and the internal treatment is by rec- tum, by using No. 180 or $|4i# 14 205. Treatment should be commenced at once and continued until all obstructions are removed. Injections should be made while resting on the back and retained for several minutes. This treatment, if commenced at once, may not only save the life of the patient, but will make any cutting with the knife absolute^ unnecessary. 9. Ascending colon. 10. Transverse section of colon. 11. Desdending colon. 13. Sigmoid flex- ure or complicated bend in the colon. This is the citadel of constipation and the fortification where it does so much harm to the human or- ganism. When constipated the Ifquids which should pass out with the fecal matter is reabsorbed and carried direct to the liver. This demands of that organ a greater work to perforin than nature has designed, hence it becomes sluggish and the system is then soon filled with bile and im- purities. This absorption leads to a great many symptoms, such as impoverished blood, sallow- ness, irregular heart action, dizziness, headache, piles, fistulae, gravel, diabetes, and all forms of kidney, liver, stomach and intestinal trouble. 8 PHYSICAL CHART An over distended caecum or sigmoid flexure may produce dropsy, numbness or cramps in lower extremities and many other ailments. All of these ma)' be cured by using 180. If these treatments, said the late Wilford Hall, were used periodicaly, begun early in life, above troubles wo aid be ruled out of the list of ailments, as their cause would forever be re- moved* 13. Rectum. 14. Anus. 15. Ileo cascal valve, which allows the contents of the small intestines to pass freely at 7, but prevents their return. TR EATMEN TS. —No. 101 — Impaction of Mar- Wax.
