Preach tlis Word : be instant in season, out of season ; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.' 1 — 1 Timothy, 4 : 2. si?3&. N E W - Y O R K : I) A X A AND COMPANY No. 381 Broadway, 1855. -2V ,C3 3d Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1845, by DANA and COMPANY, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, for the Southern District of New- York. TO THE CLERGY PROTESTANT EPISCOPAL CHURCH. The writer has been in the habit for several years past, of preparing for his own use, a programme, more or less like the one now offered. This is the first one he has ever printed, except an occasional programme of Lenten Ser- vices, mainly intended for congregational use. The expediency and practicability of a previous arrange ment of Themes and Texts for the Ecclesiastical Year, have been confirmed by the past experience of the writer However, notwithstanding a previous arrangement, as above named, he has often felt at liberty to depart from it, as circumstances have suggested. The accompanying Programme is published mainly in accordance with the wishes of several clerical brethren, who have kindlv intimated that it might be useful to the younger clergy ;— useful, if not in the selection of Themes' Texts, &c, it might be so at least, in the Plan herewith submitted. The writer, in conclusion, takes this opportunity of say- ing, that he is now preparing a Programme for the Eccle- siastical Year of 1856-7, with blanks for the Subject, Text? 4 PREFACE. Psalm and Hymn, which the clergyman can fill up for him- self. There will, however, be an Appendix containing Subjects and Texts, taken mainly from the Lessons, Gospel and Epistle for the Day, together with suitable Psalms and Hymns. Due notice will be given of its publication. Your Brother in Christ, N. W. CAMP. City of Hudson, N. /., Nov., 1855. Jllment. l. FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT. DECEMBER 2, 1855. Jut&'j §n$$tt.
