D BQok^_U6A 5 SUMMARY OF CASUALTIES •AMONG MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES DURING THE WORLD WAR Prepared in the office of The Adjutant General of the Army 1919 •7 .' It WASHINGTON (JOVERN.MENT PRINTING OFFICE 1020 or of ». FEJ 14 1920 PREFACE. The casualty records prepared in the office of The Adjutant General of the Army have been compared with those of General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces in Europe, and as a result of this comparison the following summar_v of casualties is published for the information of those concerned. Casualties in the forces in northern Russia, being a part of the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe, are included in this summary. Those occuri'ing in the forces in Siberia are not included. A small number of casualties reported are of men who can not be identified as American soldiers. These are not included in this sum- mary. If identification is made at a later date, whicli is doiditful, the change will be inconsiderable. Cases will probably be found in the examination of indivichial records, which is not yet complete, where officers and enlisted men were woimded biit so slightly that no report was made to Washington or to General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces. These will call for some increase in the number of slightly wounded, but the increase will be negligible as comjiared to the whole number reported.
