FOREWORD This study is the expression of a conviction that the scientific should replace the polemic method of Scriptural interpretation. Scripture and the proven facts of history and science we accept. Those parts of Daniel that are merely historic, and the prophetic parts fulfilled before the Nativity, we omit. Dealing then, with those prophecies which relate to the Christian era, we seek a solution for the problems of Daniel and Revelation. The Moses-Ezekiel key of a day for a year was certainly used in the proph- ecy of 69 weeks. (Dan. 9:2427) Between the giving "of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem" and Christ's annointing by Mary before his death, was 7x69 or 483 years. The chronology of those times has been worked out and is now reliable: See Encyclopedia Americana, Edition of 1906, or other modern works. Revelation falls naturally into seven descriptive groups. These divide into seven columns, cutting the groups at a right-angle. When the problems of the fourth column and the fourth group are solved, you will know yourself whether this is the true solution. The One Who gave John this vision suffered on the cross, and He hid a cross in the vision that the patient searcher who strives to find His truth may see and grasp it. Almost all the difficult problems in Revelation center in either the fourth group or the fourth column. In making such a chart of Revelation this fact will surely confront the worker. When he looks at his work the perfection of the cross's outline, together with his other discoveries, is convincing. The author is fresh from such an experience. The product of his work ap- pears in the chart in the middle of this booklet. The text explains the chart. See Reference column (e) and (j). August 14, 1917. B. H. H. SEVENTY WEEKS. Reading' Text. World War raises the question: Is tftere a prophecy in our Bible that tells what the War's outcome will be"? Some months ago, with this ques- tion in mind, I secured a study by Rev. I). Y. Schultz on Revelation. Its suggestion led toe to put the descrip- tive figures of Revelation in parallel columns. The method worked so well that finally, I discovered the seven complete sets of parallel descriptions. The whole text of the book of Revela- tion thus divides itself into a chrono- logical harmony. This discovery and the evidence of its genuineness are submitted to your critical judgment. Let us now examine the evidence. Mdhamme'daiis believe there are six great prophets. (a) Their list reads Adam, Noah, Moses, Abraham, Christ and Mohammed. (b) George Sale says Mohammed began to teach in fill A. D.(c) The Christian Church was then strong and active, but less military than the Mohammedan church soon became. The- two churches continued side by side down to our time. They were always rivals, and often, as in the Crusades were in sharp conflict. Each worshipped one God. Each was a group of believers held together by a common faith. Xo other spectacle in history is so good a likeness for the two prophels(d) mentioned in Revela- tion. Just 1260 years stand between the time when Mohammed began to teach, and the time Temporal Power was withdrawn from the Pope by the Ital- ian Government. Forceful Mohamme- dan proselyting through the use of the sword compelled the Christian Church REFERENCES. (a) Encyclopedia Americana. (b) Luke 9:49-50 "And John an- swered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he folloAved not with us. But Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not; for he that is not against you is for you." (c) Geo. Sale's Life of Mohammed, page 10, "Mohammed was born in the year of our Lord 571 — Mohammed at the age of 40, after completing the period of probation in the cell, assumed the title of Apostle of God, with none but Khadijah as the fruits of his ex- ertions." (d) Rev. 11 :3-12 "And I will give unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and three score days, clothed in sack cloth. These are the two olive trees and the two candle sticks, standing before the Lord of the earth. And if any man desireth to hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth and devoureth their enemies • and if any man shall desire, to Kurt them, in this manner must he be killed. These have the power to shut the heaven that it rain not during the days of their* prophecy; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they shall desire. And when they shall have fin- ished their testimony, the beast that eometh up out of the abyss shall make Avar with them, and overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, Avhere also their Lord was crucified. And from among the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations do men look upon their dead bodies three days and a half, and suffer not their dead bodies to oppose force with force. This brought Temporal Power which con- tinued until 1260 years after Moham- lued began preaching. Let us assume that these 1260 years mark the limits of a Day(e) in the Sev- entieth Week of Daniel's prophecy. From the crucifixion to Constantine's Edict of Toleration is the usually con- ceded limit for the First Day of Daniel's Seventieth Week. The Second Day ap- pears to continue to the time Moham- med began teaching. It stretches from §13 to 611 A. D. The Third Day lasts from 611 to 1871 A. D. The limits of these Days are indicated m the Books of Daniel and Revelation and in history. Weave now living in the Fourth .Day of Daniel's Seventieth Week. The proof for these assumptions follows: A sludy of the events of the Fourth Day(f) shows that there is then to be a great war. (g) Daniel in his second chapter describes, four governments and a stone which crushes the feet of tho image representing those governments. The stone later grows and fills the whole earth. Again in his seventh (10 chapter Daniel describes these four governments as beasts. The fourth beast is killed and his body destroyed. Then follows a government through the saints of tin' jVLqst Ui^h through- out all the world. The fourth govern- ment in each group is the Roman Em- pire. "Revelation gives us a picture of two prophets who teach with power from God 1260 days. They are then hided and lie dead three and a half days. Moses and Elijah are usually supposed to be identical with these two proph- ets. If a day for a year by the Moses- Ivekiel(i) rule, is applied to the time these prophets nrc- nctive; it is not un- to be laid in a tomb. And they that dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and make merry ; and they shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwell on the earth. And after the three days and a half the breath of 1 i i e from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fed upon them that beheld them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up 1 lit her. And they went up into heaven in the cloud; and their enemies beheld them." (e) Dan. 9:24-25 "Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and In seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. Know there- fore and discern, that from the going forth of ( he commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weehs: i1 shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times." (f) See chart on middle pages. Ig) Rev. 6:7-8 "And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, Come. And T saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth." (h) Dan. 7:7-8 and 11, also 15-27 "After tliis I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, a fourth beast, terrible and powerful, and strong exceedingly ; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured cler this rule possible to use the histor- ical nativity of Elijah, for he lived less than a thousand years before Christ. The figure is so wide reaching as to justify the belief that a day for a year is intended. We must decide whether Ihe Jewish church and the Christian church are the prophets. There are difficulties, but we can eliminate the Jew as a possibility dur- ing the first half of the period of the Seventieth Week,(e) because history ami the prophecies of Daniel (j) and New Testament writers give this half week period to the Centiles. This leaves only the Mohammedau and Christinu churches. Mohammed began teaching in 611 A. D. and made his church strongly military, (k) This compelled similar action in the Chris- tian church. The Pope soon won from Iwivt'iina, Lombardy and the Franks, a triple crown, as a temporal ruler. In 1871 A. D. Temporal Power was withdrawn by an act of the Italian Parliament, and other influences and forces. The number of years between Ihe cause and the conclusion of Tem- poral Power is just 1260.(1) The Moses-Ezekiel key(i) of a day for a year was used by Daniel(e) in his prophecy of sixty-nine weeks. We therefore assume that Daniel's other future-time prophecies should be solved by the same key. A study and comparison of Daniel and Revelation leads to the belief that the two are intended to supplement each other. We therefore use the Moses-Ezekiel Key constantly in both Daniel and Revelation. Daniel fixes one of his time-proph- ecies(m) upon a certain future event, when the burnt offering would cease, and the desolating transgression should be committed. This occurred in 169 and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet: and it Avas diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking gr.eat things. * * * I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake; I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire. * * * As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all t his. So he told me and made me know the interpretation of the things. These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, that shall arise out of the earth. But the saints of the Most Btign shall receive the kingdom, and possess 1he kingdom forever, even for- ever and ever. Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beasl, which was diverse from all of them, exceeding terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass; which de- voured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet; and concern- ing the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake great things, whose look was more stout than its fellows. I beheld, and the same horn made Avar Avith the saints, and prevailed against them; until the ancient of days came and judgment Avas given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. Thus, he said, B. C, when the statue of Zeus was set up in the temple. Christ referred to this prophecy and spoke of another time when the con- tinual burnt offering would be stopped, (n) He told his followers how they should escape from the doomed city. When in 70 A. D. the city was de- stroyed, the continual burnt offering ceased for the second time. It did not begin again until 615 A. I), when the Persians, aided by the Jews, conquered and held Jerusalem for thirteen years. The Persians gave the government of the city over to the Jews in return for their help against the Romans. The city was recaptured in 628 A. D. by the Romans. Jewish temple worship then was stopped for the third and last time. Daniel(o) says after the burnt offer- ing is taken away there shall be .1290 days. A trial of the three desolations in- dicates that this prophecy belongs to the last; adding 1290 and 028, we get the date 1918^ A. D. Plainly, this date(p) is the end of "a time, times, and a half," of Daniel. A "Time" being another name for a "Day" per- iod, this therefore appears to be the middle point in Daniel's Seventieth Week. Daniel also says, "Blessed is he that waiteth, and eometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty clays, "(o) The sum of 628 and 13)35 is the date 1963 A. D. This is evidently the closing date of the Fourth Day, and is certainly a date when de- vout persons will rejoice. \\e have here in the Fourth Day of Daniel's Seventieth Week a beginning date from Revelation, with a middle and closing date from Daniel. The dates are 1871, 1918 and 1963 A. D. The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, Avhich shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise; and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the form- er, and he shall put down three kings. And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his ham! until a time and times and half a time. But the judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to eonsnme and destroy it unto the end. And the kiugdom and the domin- ion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given io the people of the saints of the Most Higli: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obev him." (i) Ezekief 4:4-8: Num. 14:34 "Moreover lie thou upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Isreal upon it ; according to the num- ber of the days that thou shall lie upon it, thou shall bear their iniquity. The Day is almost exactly divided at its middle point (r), and it must be the mid-day of Daniel's Seventieth Week. Exact Mid-Day apparently falls between 1917 and 1918; thus 46 years stand before and 46 years after that event. The treaty following the war must be the event, that in 1918, marks the consummation of this proph- ecy. The movement of Jews to Pales- tine, called Zionism, has evidently at its foundation, a rather clear under- standing of these two prophecies, (o) At the time of the second and "Blessed" consummation in 1963 A. D. the Jew should be settled and satisfied in the possession of Palestine. Two meanings attach to many fig- ures in Revelation. The first four let- ters to the churches plainly cover the events in the corresponding Days of Daniel's Seventieth Week. The sec- ond application appears as perfect as if it had been written for that case alone. We must admit that the Mo- hammedan and Christian churches do not satisfy as complete types for the two prophets in Revelation. John gives a rule which shows how impossible is the usual thought that Jehovah is identical with Moham- med's god: "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that con- fcssclh that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that eonfesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist" — (s) In the Koran's 112th chapter, Mo- hammed denies Christ's sonship to God.(t) The two military clinches on- ly partly exemplify the conditions of the ministry of the two prophets. We therefore look for a future complete fulfillment. Daniel gives just one more date which is 2300 daws after the time the References, from one side to the other, till thou hast accomplished the days of thy siege. Num. 14:34 "After the number of the days in which ye spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my alienation." (j) Dan. 9:27 "And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week : and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and. the obla- tion to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath lie poured out upon the deso- late. ' ' (J2) Luke 21:24 "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." (j3) Rom. 11:25 "For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in;" (j4) Rev. 11:1-2 "And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and one said, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. And the court which. is without the temple leave without, and measure it not ; for it hath been given unto the nations: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months." (k) The Life of Mohammed by Geo. Sole. The Koran translated by Geo. Sale. (1) Dan. 7:24-25 "And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kines arise: and another shall arise 13 continual burnt offering' is taken away.(u) This is either 2131, 2370 or 2928 A. D., according to which of the three desolations may be meant. This date must mark the closing of the Fifth Day of Daniel's Week. During this Fifth Day period men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads will suffer torment. They shall desire to die and death will flee from them.(v) This torment, we are twice told, lasts five months. This is the equal of 150 years by our key.(i) Sanitary science with State control of diet and disease, will then probably lengthen life to about that average. The torment , is doubtless a troubled conscience doing its work. The great strength of religious pur- pose that follows the appearance of the heavenly visitors on the Mountain of Olives, where the Lamb gives the glory of his presence, has started the Fifth Day with the maximum of faith and devotion. The period resembles the First Day with its conquering church (w) and evangelical purpose. The Sixth Day must begin at one of the three dates— 2131, 2370 or 2928 A. D. The beginning date is uncertain, and the date of its end is unknown and unknowable, except to persons then living who read the signs of the times. The greatest of all wars, Tlar-Mage- don (Armagedon), occurs in the Sixth Day. We may not learn the duration of that day. Christ said "But of that day or that hour knoweth no one, not even the angels in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. "(x) Christ's words, just quoted, show how impos- sible it is that the preaching, death and resurrection of the two prophets should occur in the Sixth Dq l y.(d') The pas- sages are mutually exclusive. From a careful studv of onr ehnrt, and the in- after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings. And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and limes and half a time." (i) See reference on previous page. (e) See reference on previous page. (m) Dan. 8:11-14 "Yea, it magni- fied itself, even to the prince of the host; and it took away irom him the eonl inual burnt-offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. And the host was given over to it together with the continual burnt-offering through transgression ; and it east down truth to the ground, and it did its pleasure and prospered. Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual bnrnt-offor- ing, and the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot ? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred evenings and morn- ings; then shall Hie sanctuary be cleansed." (m2) Dan. 11 :31 "And forces shall stand on his pari, and they shall pro- fane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt-offering, and they shall set up the abomination that maketh desolate." (ni3) Dan. 12:11 "And from the time that the continual burnt-offering shall be taken away, and the abomi- nation that maketh desolate set up, there shall he a thousand two hundred and ninety da vs." (n) Luke 21 :20-23 "But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with ar- mies, then know that her deso- 14 ternal evidence of the passages, to- gether with all related Scripture, we see that the experience of the two prophets is the experience of the Jew- ish and Christian churches from 1918 to the close of Daniel's Seventieth Week. John gives us the means for finding the beginning date of the Fourth Day. Daniel gives the middle and closing dates. The Day has 92 years. Half of this Day is 4G years. The first half (mmIs about the close of 1917 A. D. Dan- iel gives the middle and closing dates, 1918 and 1963 A. D., implying that both these dates belong in the . last half week, since Daniel gives dates only in thai period, aside from the starting date of the first half week. The series of events, influences and acts that deprived the Pope of Tem- poral Power culminated toward the close of 1871 A. D. The corresponding date in 1917 is just 46 years after that date. This date (1917) is mid-day in the middle Day of Daniel's Seventieth Week. Daniel implies that "the end" is in 1918 A. D., at the close of the first half week of the Gentiles. At that lime Daniel's prophecy can be nn- &eale.d ? Xy) but not all will under- stand, (z) These prophecies were be- ginning to be unsealed twenty years ;!;'.-;>. Confusion of dates in the five centuries preceding the birth of Christ was then being corrected, and schol- ars next found the Moses-Ezekiel key to Daniel's prophecy of sixty-nine weeks. The first Zionist Congress met in P.asel in August 1897. Zionists are now settled in Palestine and more will go. By the Moses-Ezekiel key 1918 and li96S are the Zionists' important dates. (o) At the latter date Christ and 144,000 saints will appear on the lation is at hand. Then let the i a that are in Judea flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out ; and let not them that are in the country enter therein. For these are the clays of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath upon this people." (o) Dan. 12:11-12 "And from the time that the continual burnt-offering shall be taken away, and the abomi- nation that niaketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. ' ' (p) Dan. 12:7-10 "And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. And T lie-id, but 1 understood not: then said T, my lord, what shall be the issue of these things 1 ? And he said, Co thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but they that are wise shall under- stand." The end of the world is a separate and much later event, (A) depending upon its com- plete Christianiza1ion.(B & C) In the midst of the sixth trumpet blast, John was given a revelation by seven thunder voices, and told by a voice from heaven, "Seal up the things (D) which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not." The same voice later commanded him to eat a book. He found it sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach. Voices then commanded, "Thou must(E) prophesy again over many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." He is then given what must be the sealed- up message of the seven thunder voices. (j3) and(d) In this message forty-two months is the First Half Week, and 1200 days is the Last Half Week. The three and a half days the prophets lie dead, are that number of years the devil is loosed in the world after the close of the Seventh Hay. It must be also the Day of final judg- ment. (F) In our chart of Revelation, the middle horizontal group and the middle perpendicular column are the ones carrying the greater number of points of special interest. Remember- ing who gave John this Revelation, we are not surprised that these groups form a symmetrical cross. Many men have fallen into the error of thinking Mohammed's god the same as Jehovah. Mohammed h i m s e 1 f taught that the two are identical ; but his teaching in the 112th chapter of the Koran clearly denies that God is or can be the Father of Christ. (t) Moham- med is therefore a false teacher. But the Scriptural "False Prophet" will be the world's ruling government dur- ing the Second Half of the Seventieth Week : just as the Roman Empire dom- is He begotten : and there is not any one like unto Him." From Geo. Sale's translation of the Koran, Chapter 112. (u) See (m) on preceding pages. (v) Rev. 9:1-11 "And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven fallen unto the earth : and there was given to him the key of the pit of the abyss. And he opened the pit of the abyss; and there went up a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And out of the smoke came forth locusts upon the earth; and power was given, them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was said unto them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, bnt only such men as have not the seal of God on their foreheads. And it was given them that they should not kill them, but that they should be tor- mented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when it striketh a man. And in those days men shall seek death, and shall in no wise find it; and they shall desire to die, and death fleeth from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared for war: and upon their heads as it were crowns like unto gold, and their faces were as men's faces. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breast- plates of iron ; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to Avar. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men five months. They have over them as king the angel of the abyss ; his name in HebreAV is Abaddon and in the Greek tonarue he hath the 16 inated the First Half Week.(G) Germany's ruler evidently thinks Mohammed a true prophet, and acting in that belief, directs his officers serv- ing in Turkey to worship with Moham- medans. These prophecies tell plain- ly what the war's outcome will be. Daniel says(h) that after three and a half times, meaning in 1918 A. D., "judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion." Evidently, Hi is judgment is the peace treaty con- ference. The Pope renounced claim to Temporal Power in 1914. The Kaiser by his acts, makes every claim to such Imperial Roman Power. The Kaiser will be defeated as this studv shows, between 1917 and 1918 A. D.(h) APOLOGY. This solution of DANIEL and REV- ELATION has, probably, also been made, by many other Bible students. They were prevented from publishing the solution ; because they could not assert, that they believed man could live and be under conviction for sin, dur- ing a lifetime of 150 years. Recent advances in medical science have given the means for producing immunity. The next generation is to be immun- ized against the leading kinds of infec- tion. They will thus avoid old-age changes, that come from poisons of various disease germs; thereby enab- ling men to live to such ages as were common in the time of Abraham. This lengthening of life is the condition foretold for the Fifth Day of the Sev- entieth Week. AVe have seen how both Jewish and Christian prophecies cen- ter on the year 1963 A. D. as the clos- ing date in the Fourth Day. Sufficient time, therefore, is afforded to see what name Apollyon. (i) See former page. The author expects to see a vast army, who are nearing the een- tury mark, and are still young, when the momentous date 19G3 is passed. Now a word of caution and advice: — The physician best fitted to give you this immunization treatment is your family doctor. Seek and follow his advice. The author is a country doctor. The problem of prophecy appeals to him as an attractive field for investigation and speculation. We claim no special ability nor insight. Our thesis stands or falls by its own qualities. If a read- er fails to agree with our conclusions, the remedy lies in producing a better solution and publishing it. Many such solutions should appear. We are con- vinced that "a time, times, and a half" (H), meaning half of the Gentiles' Week, is to be completed within a year. It is therefore mid-week and nearly noon. Daniel clearly states in his last chapter that at the end of three and a half times "They that are wise shall understand." Read his nine closing verses in the light of this study: "Then I, Daniel, looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on the brink of the river on this side, and the other on the brink of the river on that side. And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, 'How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?' And T heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever thai it shall be for a time, limes, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these burnetii with, brimstone." Kev. 16:13-14 "And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three un- clean spirits, as it were frogs: for they are spirits of demons, v\ r orking signs; which go forth unto the kings of the whole world, to gather them together unto the war of the great day of God, the Almighty." See chart for First and Second Halves of Week. (h) See previous page. (II) Dan. 12:7 "And I heard the man clothed in linen, Avho was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand un- to heaven, swear by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces tin 1 pow- er of the holy people, all these things shall be finished." Dan. 7:25 "And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wt-ar Out the saints of the Most High ; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time." Rev. 12:14 "And there were given to the woman the two wings of the great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness unto her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the fae a of the ser- pem." 18 things shall be finished. And I heard, but I understood not; then said 1, my lord, what shall be the issue of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be re- fined; but the wicked shall do wicked- ly; and none of the wicked shall un- derstand; but they that are wise shall understand. And from the time that the continual burnt-offering- shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth and Cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. But go thou thy way till the end be, for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days." Dan. 12:5-13. Postscript. The Church's view of the impor- tance of Daniel's and John's prophe- cies is well illustrated in the picture of "HIS HOLINESS POPE PIUS X. WITH PAPAL CROWN AND ROBES OF STATE" as seen in EN- CYCLOPEDIA AMERICANA, edi- tion of 1906. The Triple Crown and the breastplate with its three horns, show the Church's claim to the pro- phecy of the three kings and three horns subdued and conquered by the Church. This booklet is printed on stout thin paper. The author expects it will need qualities of durability. It is suited to carry in a Bible. Like all Bible studies, it is sure to richly repay time and thought expended upon it. The author insists on maintaining the price stated on page two of this booklet. We are here dealing with a half translated expression. Adher- ance to our price rule will drive out all unnecessary mystery. However, in quantities of ten or more the price will be fifteen cents, each. Address all communications to B. H. Haynes, St. James, Minnesota. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS DEDUCTIONS B 021 547 603 The triple manifestations of Satan are first, during Old Testament times as the Serpent, the Devil and the Dragon: second, as the Seven- headed-ten-horned-beast, during the first half of the Seventieth Week; and third, as the False Prophet, 666, and the Two-horned-beast, dur- ing the last half of the Seventieth Week. These three are finally cast together into the lake of fire. The Devil as "prince of this world" was defeated, judged and cast out when Christ made the Atonement. (See John 12:31, 14:30 and 16:1 1). But the Devil immediately exerted his influence through the Roman government, as the Sevcn-headed-ten-hornedbeast of Daniel and Revelation. The False Prophet is evidently a World Government, composed of two lesser governments, just as the Roman Empire was composed of ten kingdoms. The False Prophet is also called "666". The He- brew Letters forming the word Nero also mean 666. Nero's leading characteristic was avarice. Flis officer Florus by taking temple- treasure caused the revolt which ended in the destruction of Jeru- salem. Revelation 13th chapter and 1 I th verse and onward, show this avaricious character of "666". At the close of the war the belligerents must arrange to pay their debts. They quite completely divide the world into two groups. Thus the conditions are present to fulfill the prophetic activities of "666, Two-horned-beast and False Prophet." The author believes that the treaty closing the war is to be the working agreement which will constitute the "Two-horned-beast, False Prophet and 666."
