 The following Service, prepared b_v the Dean of Davenport, the Verv Rev. 
 Charles R. Hale, 1). D., LL. D., Chaplain of the Iowa Society of the Sons 
 of the Revolution, and based upon the Service for the Fourth of Julv, in the 
 Proposed Book, and the Otiice for the Commemoration of Benefactors, used in 
 the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, is hereby set forth and allowed 
 for use in all the Churches of the Diocese of Iowa. 
 
 In the event of there beinsf a celebration of the Holy Communion on a day 
 of National Observance, the Collect for the day in this Service may be used, 
 with Phil. iv. 4-9 for the Epistle, and S. John viii. 31 -37 for the Gospel.

 OLORD, our heavenly Father, the high and mighty Ruler

 Thy favor to behold and bless Thy servant. The President 
 OF THE United St.\TES, and all others in authority; and so 
 replenish them with the grace of Thy Holy Spirit, that they
