One car runs from Chi- cago to San Diego, via Los Angeles, another from Chicago to San Francisco. V THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED ndian Pueblo, New Mexico T HE OBSERVATION CAR like the standard sleeping car, con- tains ten sections of two double berths each. The rear half is devoted to an observation room, handsomely fur- nished w^ith easy chairs, sofas, writing desks, etc. Wide plate glass windows aiford un- obstructed views of the surrounding country. Those who enjoy being in the open air will find comfortable seats on protected rear platform. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED ALL PRIVILEGES of the obser- vation room are free to every pas- senger on the train. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED HARVE.Y DINING CAR All meals en route are served in the din- ing car. Breakfast and lunch- eon, a la carte; dinner, table d'hote. This service, under the management of Mr. Fred Harvey, has a na- tional reputation. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED PE.AKING OF ME.ALS If good, they en- hance the charm of travel ; if poor, all else is disappointing. On The California Limited one may leisurely partake of repasts which only the best metropolitan hotels can duplicate. BUFFE.T. LIBRARY CAR This car contains a spacious smoking and reading room for gentle- men, with a well- stocked buffet. Nicely furnished and admir- ably arranged for com- fort. A pleasant place for social diversions, smoking, reading, games, neighborly chats, etc. •v^ THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED T HIS SCENE, fairly represents the smoking and reading room. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED TOCK QUOTATIONS are received daily by wire and posted in the buffet-library car. URRE.NT PE.RIODICALS and stationery are pro- vided in the observation and buffet-library cars; also the latest newspapers obtainable at starting point and en route. A locked mail box is placed on these cars for reception of letters written on the train. They are mailed at convenient points. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED A FLOWER BOY meets all trains near the California boundary and presents to each passen- ger a boutonniere of choice roses, lilies, car- nations, violets or other charac- teristic flowers. California's floral luxuriance in winter is one of the many marvels of this land of sunshine. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED Cliff Dwellings, Arizona LIFF DWELLINGS Ruins of prehisroric races are found in many places en route, particularly in Arizona. The abandoned habi- tations of ancient cliff and cave dwellers near Flagstaff are, per- haps, the most notable examples. GRAND CANON of Arizona — great- est scenic wonder of the world — is now reached from Williams, Ariz., by rail and a short stage ride. An automobile line from Flagstaff is contemplated. THE CALIFORNIA LIMITED T Golf at Coronado HE RE.SORTS of California are, noted for hotels whose elegant fur- nishings, admir- able service, and picturesque sur- roundings have a world-wide re- nown. ORONADO AND PASADE.NA also Monterey, annually attract thousands of tourists. Social life at these resorts is as gay as that of fashionable European spas, and yet the tourist seeking rest will here find secluded nooks where absolute quiet reigns.
