The lights are fixed white, located in two gray-stone towers eight hundred and ninety-five feet apart, one hundred and sixty-five and one-half feet above the level of the sea, are first class lights, visible nineteen miles. Fog signal — ten-inch steam whistle, giving blast of eight and four seconds, with alternate intervals of four and forty-four seconds. *- -* J Dry Salvages.— — 1 wo and three-quarters miles from Cape Ann Lights. Marked by a tripod. They are never covered by the tide. *- *- -^Isles of Shoals. =^- SlTUATED on White Island, the Southwesterly island of the Isles of Shoals. Light is a flashing red and white, interval between every flash, fifteen seconds. Located in white tower, eighty-seven feet above the level of the sea, visible fifteen miles. Fog signal — hand bell. -* *— *- *- Star Island. ISLES OF SHOALS. Area, three-fourths of a mile long and half a mile wide. On this island formerly stood the town of Gosport, incorporated by an act of the New Hampshire Provincial A.ssembly in 1715. The "Oceanic," situated on this island, has accommodations for four hundred guests; and the dining room, erected for the accommodation of excursionists, has an additional seating capacity of five hundred.
