ADDRESS TO THE Connecticut Society of Cincinnati ON THE DEATH OF GEORGE WASHINGTON By BENJAMIN TALLMADGE. Brooklyn, JV. Y. Privately Printed 1885. IN EXCHANGE JUN 27 1"I2 To the Members of the Connecticut State Society of the Ci?icijinati. Deeply impressed with a sense of the irreparable loss which U - nited America and the world have sustained in the death of the- il- lusti'ious Washington — by the unanimous advice of the members of the Cincinnati Society present, I do hereby particularly recomend to all the members of that be - nevolent institution residing within the State of Connecticut, that they wear o wear crape on their left arms, especially on all public occasions, until the next anniversary of our Independence, as a token of re- spect for the memory and virtues of that Man, who, while livincr. was the most beloved and now dead, will be the most universally lamented. If our country at large unite in bemoaning- the loss of this first of Patriots, and best of Men, surely those who have fought under his banners, shared in his fatigues, and participated in his glory, can never forget the Hero of our late revolution, the able advocate of our dignity and in - dependence. and the illustrious President General of our Society.
