State of Connecticut BY HIS EXCELLENCY JOHN H. TRUMBULL GOVERNOR R f t l HE Constitution of Connecticut pronounces it |“the duty of all men to worship the Supreme Being, = the great Creator and Preserver of the Universe.” £ºsº/The Commandments of God as set forth in the Scriptures were, in the early days of our history, the funda- mental law of the State. The ideals of Christian ethics are ingrained in our most cherished institutions. It is fit- ting therefore, that we take annual occasion to recognize, as citizens, a solemn duty of worship and prayer, and to acknowledge with all humility our dependence on divine guidance and favor. To this end, and in accordance with the pious customs of many generations, I appoint Friday, the fifteenth of April next, as a day of 3faatitu, alth #irager, and I earnestly urge that the people of this State gather on that day in their several places of worship, and there hum- bly and gratefully acknowledge their debt to the Author of their Being. To all Christians, the day will be a solemn memorial of the Divine Sacrifice. To any man, the story of Good Friday will carry a lesson of compassion, of humility and of unselfish service, which he will do well to learn. Given under my hand and seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this fourth day of º | April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and fifty-first. >4 ºzºc, By His Excellency’s Command: Secretary. į } }z == ? * 3!/lhº „ºº Lºº ſaeff№j† :¿?ºſ}$… waeſ |\ ||\ <%„ºry „sexº “ºrº”#*-ș| bd -9 b b + _L :)
