3 2 %, 4.4/ /2 zºº ſº State of Connecticut BY HIS EXCELLENCY In compliance with the Statute I hereby designate Sunday, February the fifteenth, as º 7\N Havana Harbor twenty-Seven years ago an I event occurred which was to be the forerunner lºss of a war that gave the boon of freedom to a lºº smaller nation lying near our shores and guaranteed to millions republics for all portions of the American hemisphere. I recommend that in accordance with the statute suit- able exercises having reference to this historical occasion be held on the school day next preceding, or on such other day as the school visitors, board of education, or town school committees may prescribe. May such exercises recall not only the courage and spirit of sacrifice which has ever inspired our soldiers and sailors but also the high purpose to which that courage and that spirit of sacrifice have ever been dedicated. May we always cherish this tradition of liberty and justice and take strength and wisdom from the strong souls who have gone before. Given under my hand and seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this seventh day of February, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and forty-ninth.
