State of Connecticut BY HIS EXCELLENCY JOHN H. TRUMBULL GOVERNOR rur lantafin it |EAR after year we witness the tremendous and | appalling loss of home, loss of employment and loss of life due to the ravages of fire. Yet, the |SE:#2) greater part of all fire waste could be avoided if reasonable care were exercised. To give a specific opportunity for the consideration of this menacing problem and in accordance with the General Statutes, I designate Tuesday, October 9th next, as fire Irrurutiun ſlau and I earnestly urge that all citizens and particularly all school authorities give attention on that day to the study and teaching of fire prevention. Civic organizations, chambers of commerce, as well as business associations and all other bodies interested in public welfare and in combat- ing this dreadful drain on our National resources, can assist materially in furthering this important observance. I therefore hope that all agencies capable of influencing the people of our Nation—including churches and news- papers—will co-operate to emphasize the seriousness of fire loss and the need of practicing ordinary care. Given under my hand and seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this twenty-second day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and fifty-third. >4 ºz.,4& By His Excellency’s Command: Secretary.
