REFACE To THE MEMBERS OF YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATIONS .THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES AND BRITISH PROVINCES. DEAR BRETHREN-From time to time at our annual gatherings there has been expressed a desire-for an Association Hymn Book. At the suggestion of many members of various Associations this compilation has been made. In number and variety of hymns and method of arrangement it is, believed to excel any similar book heretofore issued. Selections have been made from over thirty; differen works, and hymns obtained from various portions of our own land and even from England. As all the Hymns and Tunes are copy-righted, they cannot be reprinted without permission of the authors especial thanks are due to Phillip Phillips, Bigelow and Main and Henry Hoyt, for favors granted. Hoping that its publication and use will be the means of promoting co-operation and unity among the Associations, and that the singing of Hymns from this vessel of song may be greatly blessed by the Master, to the comforting, enlightening, and strengthening of many souls, it is launched out on its Mission and ballasted with faith and prayer.
