COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE MONTHLY PRICES OF SELECTED CALIFORNIA TRUCK CROPS ON THE SAN FRANCISCO, OAKLAND, LOS ANGELES, AND NEW YORK CITY MARKETS 1910-1934 H. J. Stover j/and A, W, Stuart & The monthly market prices of selected truck crops presented herein have been compiled in response to a long-recognized need of the large and expanding California truck-crop industry for this information.^ Changes in the character of the various truck crops produced, in the form in which they are sold, and in tho method of packing and type of package used have made it extremely difficult to secure comparable price data for any length of time. Such available information as could be readily obtained has been used in determining the size of the various factors employed in convert- ing prices quoted in various units to a comparable basis » The resultant price series is presented at this time, in preliminary form, with the hope that helpful suggestions and criticisms may be forthcoming and with the expectation that, despite several recognized limitations, the data may serve a very useful purpose • Sources of Data . — The original price data for these tabulations wore secured from the following sources: San Francisco — The Pacific Rural Press (1910-1922), the San Francisco Call (1910-1922), and the daily reports for local fruits and vegetables released by the San Francisco office of the Federal-State Market News Service (1923-1934), Oakland — The Oakland Tribune, Los Angeles — The Los Angeles Times (1910-1922) and the daily reports for local fruits and vegetables, released by tho Los Angeles office of the Federal-State Market News Service (1923-1934). New York City — Tho Producers* Price-Current, Truck Crops Included . — 1 Monthly prices for each of tho following truck crops aro presented in this report: artichokes, asparagus, lima beans, string beans, beets, cabbage, cantaloupes, carrots, cauliflower, celery, lettuce, onions (yellow), peas, spinach, tomatoes, and watermelons.
