AND SWINE, EXTENDING THE QUARANTINE TO INCLUDE THE COUNTIES OF MARIN, NAPA, SAN MATEO, SAN JOAQUIN, SANTA CLARA, AND SONOMA. The fact has been determined by the Secretary of Agriculture, and notice is hereby given, that a contagious and communicable dis- ease known as foot-and-mouth disease exists in livestock in the State of California in an area not covered bv the quarantine estab- lished by B. A. I. Order 287 dated February 23, 1924, and effective on and after that date. Now, therefore, I, Henry C. Wallace, Secretary of Agriculture, under authority conferred by section 1 of the act of Congress approved March 3, 1905 (33 Stat. 1264), do hereby quarantine the counties of Marin, Napa, San Mateo, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, and Sonoma, in the State of California, and do hereby amend said B. A. I. Order 287 by adding the aforementioned counties to the quarantined area established in said order. It is further ordered by this amendment to B. A. I. Order 287, under the authority and discretion conferred on the Secretary of Agriculture by section 3 of the act of Congress approved March 3. 1905 (33 Stat. 1264). and section 2 of the act of Congress approved February 2, 1903 (32 Stat. 791), that the interstate or foreign move- ment of cattle, sheep, and other ruminants, and swine, from, into, or through said quarantined counties, and the interstate or foreign shipments of the dressed carcasses of calves, sheep, and other rumi- nants, and of the hides, skins, and hoofs of cattle, sheep, and other ruminants, and of all hay. straw, or similar fodder from any point in the said mentioned quarantined counties shall be made only in accordance with and subject in all respects to the conditions, require- ments, and restrictions of said B. A. I. Order 287. This amendment, which, for the purpose of identification, is designated as Amendment 1 to B. A. I. Order 287, shall become and he effective on and after February 25, 1924.
