School — This is the day the Lord hath made, vve will rejoice and be glad in it. Teacher — Where shall we walk pray tell us ; and how can we find the way? School — In all the ways acknowledge Him, and he shall diredl thy paths. Teacher — Where can we look for strength to help us through the day? School — The joy of the Lord is in our strength. In thirty- six by William’s friends Rhode Island was begun. The Swedes encamped in Deleware In sixteen-thirty-eight ; In sixty -four, Elizabethtown, Began New Jersey’s state. The English navy took New York, In sixteen- sixty-four. And from this time the colony An English title bore. Year sixteen hundred fifty Is North Carolina’s date. In sixteen seventy, began, South Carolina State. Penn came to Pennsylvania In sixteen eighty-two ; In seventeen hundred thirty-three. To Georgia debtors go. These thirteen States the Union formed And scarce three million held ; Now forty-five compose the land, With seventy million filled. Now six small territories, Within the western border: And thirty-two new States have been Admitted in this order. Arthur, As twenty and twenty-one we’ll place ; Garfield is shot, the country mourn, And Arthur holds rule alone. Twenty-two a democratic president we place, Grover Cleveland with Thomas Hendricks ; There’s trouble ahead with labor disturbances, Earthquakes and Indians in the West. Benjamin Harrison as twenty-three have we, Grandson of Wm. H. is he ; The Johnstown flood comes two states he admits. Idaho and Wyoming. As twenty-four Grover Cleveland we have again With Adlai Stevenson to rule o’er our land. With the World’s Fair at Chicago And North and South Dakota, Montana, Washington. As twenty-five Wm. McKinley we see With Garrett Hobert by his side The tarriff bill trying to decide And help the money question’s side. Now this last makes us twenty-five presidents Twenty-six administrations And twenty-nine terms Of republic rule both good and bad.
