Volume 6 APRIL, 1912 Number 2 8>tatr Normal §>rijnol SoUrtio Rural School Book List Published Quarterly by the Lewiston State Normal School at Lewiston, Idaho. Entered as second-class matter, August 5, 1905, at the Postoffice at Lewiston, Tdaho, under Act of Congress of July 16, 1894. llwwHr * ' EXERCISES OF IVY day, COMMENCEMENT WEEK, JUNE, 1910, NORMAL CAMPUS Digitized by the Internet Archive in 2017 with funding from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Alternates https://archive.org/details/ruralschoolbooklOObrew FOREWORD For the assistance of teachers and trustees of rural schools, who desire to purchase books for library purposes, the following lists of titles have been prepared by Mrs. Theodora R. Brewitt, Librarian. Superintendents, trustees, and teachers may secure copies of this bulletin upon request. George H. Black, President. At the request of the Rural Department, the Librarian has prepared the following lists of book titles. It is hoped that these lists will be of assistance to teachers and trustees of the country schools in enabling them to more readily make selections of useful books and to so purchase them as to keep a well balanced library. It is suggested that the expenditure of funds available for library purchases be apportioned as evenly as possible to all classes not already represented by books purchased and in the library. Where feasible, the choice in the order of purchase of any class has been indicated by figures, or by using a * for the most desirable. For valuable suggestions concerning the cataloging and use of school libraries, see Lewiston State Normal School bulletin, vol. 5, no. 1, “School libraries.” Books for elementary schools Fairy tales, folk lore and myths Aesop, Child’s version of Aesop’s fables.
