If, as many believe, it was the charming penin- sula of Nahant which excited the Norseman's admiration, no one familiar with the spot can wonder at his enthusiasm. Certainly, from the first settlement of this country by the English, Nahant has been the admired of all observers, and for a hundred years or more has held a foremost rank among the charming summer resorts of New England. It is unique in its beauty and unrivalled in its location. HOTEL TUDOR Hotel Tudor THE largest hotel in Nahant, open June to October. It is delightfully located on the site of the old Hood Hotel which, though it will be remembered with pleasure by many, has been forced to give place to a more modern and capacious structure. The new hotel is a model of its kind and worthy "the finest location on the North Shore." It is furnished with every modern improvement, including electric bells, electric lights, and in general, all the appoint- ments of a first-class hotel. It occupies an entire square, thus securing light on all sides and the best ventilation. PIAZZA THE sanitary arrangements are not excelled by those of any hotel in the State, the plumb- ing being thorough and systematic, and the drainage perfect. The hotel is provided with a number of apartments arranged en suite, and has fire-places in office, parlor and many of the chambers, and bath rooms on each floor supplied with hot and cold water. Croquet and lawn tennis grounds, and telephone office connected with the Hotel. Only ten miles from Boston, as the crow flies, it occupies a commanding position on the southerly slope of the hill facing the shore of the beautiful rock-bound peninsula which thrusts its rugged sides far out into the broad bay, and is fanned by the cool breezes which sweep in from the sea laden with the fragrant breath of the waves. Its location is as central as it is beautiful, being in the immediate neighborhood of many of Nahant's most elegant summer residences, and one block from the Nahant Club, and only a few rods from the steamboat landing. It is also conveniently near to the "Swallow's Cave," the Bathing Beach, "Pulpit Rock," "Natural Bridge," "The Cliffs" (which may be reached by a short walk through the beautiful grounds of Hon. Henry Cabot Lodge), the "Spouting Horn," and many other points of interest. DINING ROOM The Table and Service The excellence of cuisine and service which has characterized the old hotel in past years will be maintained in Hotel Tudor. Out-of-Door Recreations The guests of this hotel enjoy superior facilities for salt-water bathing upon the beach in front of the house, for fishing from the rocks on the shore, and for deep-water fishing in the immediate waters. The drives of Nahant are especially enjoyable. The roads are fine, the atmosphere invig- orating, and the shore, ocean and country scenery inspiring. A new stable and carriage-house, bnilt last season, afford superior conveniences for guests bringing their own carriages for the summer, while three excellent liveries located within a short distance, furnish satisfactory vehicles at reasonable rates. The proprietor, who is also the owner of the house, proposes to make Hotel Tudor a worthy resort for people of refined tastes. To this end he has planned and furnished this hotel with a view to satisfying the requirements of convenience, comfort and good taste, and will do all in his power to exclude the undesirable elements of society and to deserve the liberal patronage of guests of social excellence. 8 ROCK TEMPLE, NAHANT Accessibility, Rates, Etc.
